Questions

Before your first visit

How old do singers have to be?

Voice lessons and the youth choir start at nine. Teens and adults sing in lessons every week, and the gospel choir is for adults.

Do I need to read music?

No. Both choirs learn their songs by ear, and the sight-singing class on Tuesday evening is there for anyone who would like to read.

Do I have to audition?

No. At a placement visit a teacher hears you sing a song you know, and we talk about which choir or lesson to start with.

I lead a choir at my church. Can I take lessons?

Yes. Noreen coaches church musicians and choir leaders on Wednesday evenings, and runs a workshop on the first Saturday of the month.

Can a parent sit in?

Yes. A parent is welcome to sit in on any lesson, and families wait in the front hall during youth choir.

Come and sing a song you know

At a placement visit a teacher listens, you talk about what you would like to sing, and we match you with lessons or a choir.
