Questions we hear most

What age can my child start?

Voice lessons and the youth choir start at nine. Teens are welcome in lessons and in the youth choir until seventeen, and adults sing in lessons and in the gospel choir.

How long is a lesson?

30, 45 or 60 minutes. Your teacher will suggest a length at the placement visit.

How are teachers matched?

At the placement visit a teacher listens, we talk about what you want to sing, and we match you with a teacher and a weekly time.

Do I need to read music?

No. Both choirs learn songs by ear, and Issam's sight-singing class on Tuesday evening is open to anyone who would like to start.

Do I have to audition for a choir?

No. The placement visit is how we find the right choir.

Is a concert required?

No. Singing in a concert is the singer's choice, and families and friends are always welcome to listen.

What if we miss a lesson?

A lesson you cancel a day ahead is made up with your teacher, and a lesson a teacher cancels is always made up. Choir rehearsals and classes are not made up.

Can a church choir leader take lessons?

Yes. Noreen coaches church musicians and choir leaders on Wednesday evenings.

Can an adult start from the beginning?

Yes. Davina and Issam teach adults on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings, and the gospel choir meets on Tuesday.

Still have a question?
